Learning about India at kindy

This week at Sienna's kindy they are learning all about India, eating Indian foods and trying an Indian type of milkshake which Sienna said she didn't like. Today the kids were dressing up in costume and some fabric came home last night and today was the dress up day. Sienna was very excited about it and proud to wear her costume.

A birthday morning at the park

Yesterday morning we went to a local park to have a play and celebrate a kindy friend's 5th birthday with yummy homemade chocolate cupcakes which were a big hit all round. I also managed to complete part of my photography assignment while I was there using Libby as my model which was great. We are now 6 weeks into the course and most of us (ie the photography students) have run out of co-operative subjects to use and are now photographing tea cups, candle sticks, stuffed animals actually anything we can get our hands on however this particular assignment on "lighting" required a patient human being (so thanks Libby).

I also took a few pic's of Libby's 4th baby William who is adorable and has the chubbiest cheeks and the cutest smile. I love the picture of Sienna and Ged entertaining baby William.

Sienna's kindy drawing of her holiday

I just had to post this picture that Sienna did at kindy last week as it only came home today. They had to draw something they did on holidays and as you know she had heaps of things to pick from but she drew this picture of James (on the left) and herself at Rainbow Bay. She said that she was carrying the surfboard in her hand (double click on the picture and I think that will make the picture larger to view. We don't have a surboard but we do have a boogie board and that is what she's referring to).

These moments make me stop for a minute and truly appreciate this gift of my little kids and how they view life. Whilst we all know how much time it takes to raise them (24/7) I really had to just stop and stare at this little picture for about 5 mins to take it all in and what that meant to Sienna. The clouds, the rocks, the sky and the fact that she had also drawn the surfboard is what life is all about. In it's simplicity and it's these things that make me truely treasure being her mother.

Rainbow Bay is such a beautiful place all year round and we are lucky enough to have a wonderful friend who loves to share her beach with us.

I've also included some pictures of the rocks she is referring to that the kids love to walk on. They love looking for crabs and shells and just pottering in the sunshine.

Kindy Painting

I love it when I pick up Sienna from kindy and she shows me her latest painting. She told me in the car on the way home that she had painted a rainbow (she loves rainbows). When we got home and got it out to show me and it was the cutest painting of a little girl. Given that I was expecting just a "rainbow" I said, is it a girl with rainbow hair and she said yes but she doesn't have a face. I love the simplicity of kids paintings and it made me smile.
