The chicken and the egg

This morning when I was having a shower James came racing into the bathroom all excited to tell me that there was an animal holding an egg in the kitchen. He had the biggest grin on his face and I said, umm... would that be a Zoob animal by any chance! Sure enough he had made a chicken holding an egg. This is going to be today's photo of the day.

What we did today

We put bench seats together, the kids swept the shelving, we put shelving together, Sienna got bitten by an ant and had to lay down on the new bench seat with some ice on her foot, James made Zoob animals "man walking his dog", a frog and a Zoob dactal (can't spell that one). Very productive and exhausting day.

Nanny & Pop are in town

I picked up Nanny & Pop from the airport yesterday and the kids were so excited at school pick up to see their grandparents after 9 months. It was all up in the air about whether they would actually arrive or not because of the volcanic ash cloud however luckily their travel wasn't affected.

What my babies are doing right now

Here are my beautiful children whom I love very much. Scooby Doo and Duckie are the bedtime friends of choice at the moment (James 7 and Sienna 5). How adorable are they!

Bedtime Stories

Tonight I was lucky enough to be read to by James and Sienna instead of me doing the reading. Sienna read a little book which counted to ten, 6 butterflies flying high, 7 bubbles falling to the ground etc. (it's not reading but more memorizing from when mummy read the other night) but still I love laying down on the bed and watching them read to me. James was reading a Scooby Do book and we were cuddled up on the bed and I really wanted to get a picture so grabbed the camera and stuck it on the bookcase and hit the self timer. I didn't even know what would be in the picture because I couldn't get behind the viewfinder. James all of a sudden went shy but we had fun doing it. Yes I know not the most flattering shot of yours truely but it's real life!!!

Home Made Pizza

On Friday afternoon I popped into a store called "Simply Good" to pick up some bakers flour to make some home made pizza dough. I popped all the ingredients in the breadmaker before I left to pick up the kids from school and then by the time dinner was ready our dough was ready to roll and make our fresh pizza's. We tried a new recipe given to me by a friend and it was delicious and didn't taste too "yeasty". Sienna wanted to help roll out the pizza base so got to work sprinkling a little bit of flour on it and rolling it all directions.

We just had very plain toppings of ham and cheese and I threw on some home grown spring onions from our old house (yes they have been in a container in the fridge for 2 weeks are are still fresh). We tucked into our pizza on a chilly Friday night and got great pleasure out of the fact that we had made it ourselves. It is so much cheaper and healthier and gives me a good feeling. The ham we used is what the kids call "fat ham". In other words like the store bought ones instead of our little shaved ham slices that we use for school lunches. I bought a knob of ham from the meat section of Coles and chopped it up into quite chunky pieces and used that. I froze the rest of it already cut up and put into zip lock bags so our next pizza's will be quick and easy.

I'm back

Well after our big move and no internet for 2 weeks I have been busily unpacking and doing things that need to be done when you move to a new house. Engage locksmiths to change all the locks and key them to like so there is one key that fits 5 doors, get the tv antena man to install points and fix the existing one, get the bushes trimmed and lawn mowed and on my to do list is the electrician to install some extra power points and an outside light in the alfresco area. Lots of exciting things to do when I have a new place to make my own.

Our backyard is small but flat and very private which I love. Yesterday afternoon after school James made a kite for himself as Sienna had come home from school with one and they ran around the back yard flying their kites. James made a little room on his and drew a person and a bed in his (very inventive). I love our new home and look forward to doing the place up bit by bit. Here are a few pictures from our backyard yesterday afternoon.
