Christmas Gifts

My Aunty came over on Boxing Day and brought some yummy treats with her that she had made. My favourite one was the "Edible Name Tags" for the kids made with shortbread biscuits. I admire her skills because I have had 2 recent fails with similar sorts of dough. The kids were thrilled with them all and she impressed the adults too. A lot of love and attention to detail went into these gifts. She also makes a beautiful shortbread star Christmas Tree each year which we finished off today in fact. Yummmmmm

Coloured Twinkle Lights

I found a box of coloured lights today in my Christmas stuff so we had a little play around with them in some late night photos after the kids bath time.

O Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree.....

I saw this activity on a blog recently however I can't remember which one. The kids were saying they were bored this morning so I put them to work with some crepe paper and the Christmas lights so they could turn each other into a Christmas Tree. Here's the before and after....so cute.

Candy Cane Love Hearts

I bought some Candy Canes to try the love heart idea out however the kids were pretty keen to get the photography over and done with so they could eat them. There was a lot more of "just one more photo", " you can't eat them until I get a good one" etc. In the end I thought these were quite cute and then they opened them and proceeded to eat them. In the top photo James was trying to give Sienna antlers on her head which she thought was funny.

December Daily - Day 7

Today I finished putting up our Christmas decorations around the place and attempted to photograph them. I don't think I would get a job for a magazine however, I was thrilled with my photo of the corner with the lamp and my new rustic wreath which I purchased after Christmas last year. I saw it at Wheel and Barrow (my favourite shop since finding out about them on Bert Newton's morning show when I was living in Melbourne about 8 years ago). Luckily for me a few years later Wheel and Barrow came to Brisbane and I cannot walk out of there without buying something. I saw the wooden wreath and was going to buy it however I had bought quite a few Christmas presents and I didn't have any more hands to carry it and I was tired so decided against it. Luckily for me after Christmas it was $15 off which was much more reasonable. How's your decorating going?

Trimming the Tree

One of our traditions is for Aunty Lisa to come over and help put up our Christmas Tree and yesterday afternoon it started off like the normal tradition where the kids get into the boxes and start fighting or crying. Somehow "peace on earth" is not something that is at the fore front of their minds. They eventually calmed down and we were able to get started on decorating the tree. I bought the Christmas tree in December 2008 and I still love seeing it all pretty and sparkly. After a little while the kids got bored and went off to play so Lisa and I ended up finishing the tree off together.
