I have read a lot lately on people saying that unless you shoot in manual mode you are not a real photographer. Not true. If you are using the picture modes (ie flower, portrait, mountain etc.) maybe get off those and learn how to use AV and TV (or S in some cameras). I'm shooting in RAW (thanks to Leanne telling me what to do with my computer to do that) but it is very time consuming particularly if you shoot 200 photos of an event, holiday etc....you sit at that computer for hours. Still baby steps, put one foot in front of the next.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486296777566324761.post-11474633466841916232010-07-18T16:52:20.319+10:002010-07-18T16:52:20.319+10:00Oh...I have so much to learn...manual and RAW...ma...Oh...I have so much to learn...manual and RAW...maybe one day :)Dianehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01514353239664426719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486296777566324761.post-14305949633385413592010-06-14T22:09:51.822+10:002010-06-14T22:09:51.822+10:00Nicole, on the 40D go to the menu where it says Wh...Nicole, on the 40D go to the menu where it says White Balance (it should be set to AWB which is Auto White Balance) Press the set button (in the middle of the dial at the back) and a number of pictures will come up. Change from AWB to say tungsten or fluorescent depending upon your light source and give it a go. I did have to adjust slightly in photoshop (I'm shooting in RAW format). MAKE SURE you change the setting back to AWB afterwards as it does not go back by itself. All your next shots will be terrible so a word of warning (from experience).
